We could use some additional assistance carrying in tabletops and getting things set up for Nashcon. If you want to help, please be at the Cool Springs Marriott at 6:00 on the evening of Thursday, May 27. Thanks! All hands welcome.

There will be no HMGS membership meeting on the third Saturday in May, but please try to make it to Wargames on May 22 to help with last-minute Nashcon prep work. Thanks.
On May Day Weekend the Mid-South was hit by a 100 year flood *Correction* 500 year flood that has done tremendous damage, taken lives and disrupted a great part of this area. This disaster has affected the members of HMGS Mid-South as well. In spite of this tragedy the membership has urged us to soldier on and continue with Nashcon. In order to do so certain responsibilities will be shifted.
Continue to send game information to GameRegistration@hmgs-midsouth.org. You can continue to contact the President of the organization at president@hmgs-midsouth.org and website issues can still be addressed to webmaster@hmgs-midsouth.org. We have put in place additional forwarding details to make sure someone will be able to receive and respond to your requests. However, we are all under some intense pressure helping our neighbors and friends and businesses dig out so please have some understanding if we don’t reach you within 48 hours.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time and encourage you all to come to Nashcon this year.
Sincerely,
The Board of HMGS Mid-South
Charitable donation can be sent to:

Many thanks to Mike Hicks for his impressive work on the Nashcon Banner Ads. A job well done I must say. If you have a website you own or contribute to please consider placing these banners there with a link back to this website. If you are just a contributor please get permission first. Nashcon is quickly approaching. We are looking to make 2010 a great year for Nashcon! Help spread the word!
Dealers at Nashcon 2010
Apr 1
Just to let you know, we’ve listed the first dealers who have committed to Nashcon. A number of companies have said they want to come, and we’ll add to the list on the Dealers page as they confirm.
The members of Northwest Arkansas HOGS (Historically Oriented Gaming Society) are again bringing their 14 x 6–foot tabletop recreation of the old Avalon Hill Stalingrad game to Nashville. If you didn’t see this the last time they were here, you missed a visual treat. Check out the photos below, and read the full description of this 15mm extravaganza on the Nashcon 2010 PEL.

Stanley Kubiak presents WW2 aerial combat using the popular Aerodrome 2.0 WW2 Aerial Combat game and 1/144th scale aircraft. The rules, adapted from Aerodrome 1.1 remain easy-to-learn, easy-to-play and great fun, but take into account the faster speeds and greater weapons lethality of WW2 aircraft. All rules will be explained and charts provided. Wings and medals awarded. Up to 10 players per round. Rounds last about 1 hour running continuously through the allotted time. Under age 15 with a playing adult, only.

BATTLE OF BORODINO
The Battle of Borodino, fought on September 7, 1812, was the largest and bloodiest single-day action of the French invasion of Russia. Involving more than 250,000 troops and resulting in at least 70,000 casualties, the French Grande Armée under Emperor Napoleon I attacked the Imperial Russian Army near the village of Borodino. They eventually captured the main positions on the battlefield but failed to destroy the Russian army. Can you change history? The HMGS-Gulfsouth River Parishes chapter and Steve Wirth proudly present the Battle of Borodino in 1/72nd scale using the quick play, grand tactical rules, “Le Petit Empereur”, published by Chipco. There are openings for 2-6 players. Everything needed will be provided. Gamers 16, and under, must be accompanied by an adult.
EGBERT’S KINGDOM IN PERIL
The Danes have descended upon Wessex and the fate of the Saxon Kingdom is in the hands of King Egbert. The fyrd has been assembled but will it be enough to stop the hordes of Norsemen? This Viking vs. Saxon scenario, loosely based on history but mostly inspired by reading too many Bernard Cornwell novels, is presented by Mike Randles using 15mm figures and his own set of Dark Ages rules entitled, “Vikings Rule“. Grab your axes, strap on your shields and help decide who will be the victor in this epic struggle. Slots are available for 6-10 players.
Nashcon Page Updated
Mar 21
I wanted to take the opportunity to let everyone know that the Nashcon page has been updated. There are now links to additional pages for all of the tournaments such as the Rogue Trader WH40K, Warhammer Fantasy Battles and DBA tournaments. A convention registration form has been added as well as an HMGS-Midsouth membership form. We may add an electronic form for doing both of these types of registration however that won’t be for a while. Still to come is an official list of dealers to be represented at the convention. Please check both the Nashcon page and the Contacts page for any relevant email addresses you may need.
Nashcon is Memorial Day Weekend, 2010. It is hosted by the Midsouth chapter of the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society. HMGS-Midsouth is a 501c non-profit organization.

Turkey Wars PIRATE GAME !!!
Nov 29
Turkey Wars
Lord Al (who played in the Game) and Baxter Key hosted Turkey WARS at the Shop. There were lots of games. I was allowed to escape from the house of relatives and put on my Pirates game. This is a mini version of the Premier Nashcon 2010 game which will run on a 20 foot board. Here we had an eight by six albeit with fewer ships. The object was to capture and hold Skull Island. The pirates who were first ashore were attacked by cannibals but eventually made their way inland and held the island till the end. Skull Island was placed smack in the center of the board which resulted in a wild circular melee. That ended when the wind shifted. The boats paired off and had at it. Major Bill captured another ship when all the crew were killed off. Pete held the island till the end although his crew were being killed in droves. This was a lot of fun. The rules stood up and I will fine tune a bit and then run them up. And Oh yes, here are some photos. The boats are various sources. Several are full hulled ships that I waterlined. The pirates are all 28mm from various brands. AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH.
