Nashcon 2010 will be held despite May Day weekend floods
Nashcon 2010
May 28, 29,30
Franklin-Cool Springs Marriott Hotel & Convention Center
700 Cool Springs Boulevard, Franklin TN
Mark your calendar and get ready, Nashcon 2010 will be a great convention. The location is just 15 minutes South of Nashville and surrounded by resturants and Stores. This is a great location and a great time of year to come to the area.
You can get a special rate for the show by calling the hotel at (615) 261-6100. The show rate is $109 a night for a single or double and INCLUDES 2 breakfast buffets per night. You must make reservations before May 5 to receive this rate! The food at this Marriott is great, having been a repeat customer myself.
But the best rate is this…
$20
That is right, just give us an ‘Old Hickory’ and you will have all the gaming you can handle. Three days worth. Why, ol’ Andrew Jackson would be proud knowing you were getting such value for money with his face on it! If you are not a member of HMGS the price is $25 but still a great deal!)
Gamers who want to play in the Rogue Trader tournaments, there is an additional charge of $5 per tournament.
For the first time NASHCON miniatures gaming convention and TILLERCON computer gaming convention will be held concurrently under the same roof! Paid TILLERCON attendees who wish to play in NASHCON games may purchase a $5 per day pass (plus any tournament fee).
The Dealer’s Room and the Sunday morning flea market are open to everyone at no charge. Just ask for a guest badge.
This year’s Nashcon will feature
- Multiple vendors seeking to turn your gold into lead
- Flea Market
- A Giant Pirate Game
- DBA – HotT Tournaments

Re: Napoleon’s Wars: The 100 Days
Hello. I’m one of “the Duke Boys” who will be hosting this demo. It will be touch-and-go whether we have all ‘printed final components’ or some parts of the demo will be done with art renderings. In either case, we’ll have what we need to proceed and have a good time.
However, given the audience at Nashcon, I wanted to point out that this game might be considered very “Introductory” in nature. If you are familiar with Worthington’s “Hold the Line,” you have a good starting point. There is a little more meat here, and flavored for the Nap period. But for hard core miniatures enthusiasts, who expect things like lancer bonuses and a difference between howitzers and licorns, this may not be a game for you.
It does look like a fun game, with interesting decision points, but, with many other options on the PEL, I don’t want anyone to be disappointed by what it is not.
We’re looking forward to Nashcon and everyone having a good time in a game that suits their expectations.
thanks
kduke

As the headline above says, the flooding that struck the Mid-South on the first weekend of May will not prevent Nashcon from going on. At this time, there have not been any reports of harm or housing loss to any Mid-South HMGS members although some did suffer flooded basements, downed trees, etc.
Others were not nearly as fortunate. If anyone would like to contribute to relief funds, here are links to the Red Cross http://www.nashvilleredcross.org/index.asp?IDCapitulo=78T3Z2WSK0 and Salvation Army http://www.uss.salvationarmy.org/uss/www_uss_nashville_ac.nsf/ of Middle Tennessee. Those wishing to donate to other areas should Google the name of a trusted organization plus flood relief. Any help will be appreciated by those in need. I lived through Austin’s Flood of the Century – what happened in Middle Tennessee was worse.

Hey Gerald -
What’s the story on HMGS member cards? When we attend HISTORICON we need one to show them to get the member rate. HISTORICON is July 8 – 11th. Any chance of getting something at NASHCON?
Looking forward to seeing you guys at the CON.

For those who are interested, I’m planning on bringing my Aerodrome® 2.0 WW2 Aerial Combat game out from California again this year. There will be a dogfight game on Friday afternoon, evening (10 players per round, each round lasting 45-90 minutes), and on Saturday afternoon there will be a “Carrier Attack” game (for up to 15 players) with an American strike force of dive bombers, torpedo bombers and fighters against a Japanese carrier fleet defended by Zeroes. Wings and medals will be available for victorious and valorous players in both games. Please contact me at aerodromeinfo@gmail.com with any questions. Hope to see you there!

Spectators are always welcome, HiredGun. You only have to pay to play. And if she gets tired of spectating at the games, Cool Springs Galleria Mall is just across the Interstate.

Just a quick question. Will the warhammer events be purely Battle Point affairs or will there be a painting score/requirement involved. (This will let me know how much I have to get painted in the next 2 months).

Talked to the hotel manager the other day. Apparently, they did not load the right number of rooms into their reservation system.
Now to figure out what games to run.

Joe, the hotel shouldn’t be booked up yet (I wish). We’ll look into this. Did you call the (615) 261-6100 number? Calling Marriott’s reservation line won’t get you the discount; this is handled locally.

That stuff is all coming soon. I am just waiting for details to create a special page for each of the events. Things are steaming along and I’ll do my best to get what I can up as soon as possible. Just a note: I’ll be out of town for the next week on business – however I will have some access to the website so I should still be able to add critical content in a simple format. Thanks for your question.

Any update yet as to the specifics for the Warhammer events? Trying to get a leg up on what I need to build/buy/paint based on what the tournie guidlines are.

Is the hotel booked up? I just tried making reservations and they had rooms for Saturday, but not at the con rate. I plan on calling the manager tomorrow.
What are the rules for submitting a game?

Looks like your Arkie members will be returning again this year. I would like to run my Turning Point Stalingrad miniatures game again. (I ran it 2 yrs ago at Nashcon and was well recieved) This is my favorite con and was very sorry to have missed it last year. Probably 4 to 6 of us coming this year. Looking forward to it.
