“Well, that was effective!”

What are you doing this weekend? Don’t tell me you are undecided!

Nashcon is this weekend! Hundreds are coming. Based on Pre-Registration numbers we are looking North of 350 gamers. Plus loads of dealers, game masters, games of all descriptions. What are you going to do? Stay at home and wish you were at Nashcon? Or are you going to cowboy up and come on down? You too could be using gratuitous firepower to clear buildings! Come man the wall and make this the biggest Nashcon we have seen in years!

Details Here

We Need Tables and Games at Nashcon!

There has been a spike of about 33% in projected attendance at Nashcon for 2013 over 2012. This isn’t surprising given that Siege of Augusta had a 70% or greater increase over the prior year as well! Perhaps the economy is improving.

The Nashcon Team has been investing a lot of money to help improve the convention. We are expecting to be in the red this year but with a better base for future years. The hope is that the convention grows large enough that we can move out of hotel space and into an event large enough to the new Nashville Convention Center which is better suited to our type of event but in order to afford a space like that we need to get attendance up. Thus our multi-year plan of investment and growth.

One snag this year was that the Hotel retired 40 tables that we were using. We can rent tables but they are $20 each for the weekend. I’ve offered to lend 5 tables but we need more. If you have tables you can lend we would greatly appreciate it! Especially since we have more gamers this year!

We also need more games! If you haven’t given details of the game you’d like to run yet please click the Nashcon tab above and tell us what you can run. Check the PEL for gaps in game types, periods and so forth. We could use your game!

Also we have been reaching out back to the RPG community. Nashcon used to have a strong RPG presence in the 1990s. I wasn’t around back then so I don’t know why it went away but current BoD and Nashcon crew would like to see it come back. If you know people in the RPG community please reach out. If not for Nashcon 2013 consider what we can do to make it happen in 2014.

The games I’ve submitted are:

A Wings of Glory game. Straight up dogfighting. Perfect for Friday night.

The other is based on the 1980 game, Attack of the Mutants by Yaquinto. It features Professors and TAs and plucky robots trying to save MTSU from being over run by mutants controlled by an evil Professor!

“Professor Applewhite, Shouldn’t we be running from the hoard?” “Nonsense! There is a 92% chance the boy-scout there will die fighting them off to prove his manhood while my robot here will mop up the survivors. Hmm did I carry the one?”

Nashcon Pre-regs

The form is out that you can use for snail mail now.

We will have a PayPal one open soon. We had some issues with it working at times but then it would stop. I am told this will be fixed this week end.

On a side note, we will have a credit card reader at the registration booth this year at Nashcon, and if all works well next years Siege of Augusta. We feel this will keep more cash in the hands of attendees to spend in the Dealer’s Hall. Checks are always welcome has well.

Nashcon prizes and give-a-ways rules

This will be our 25th year of Nashcon and we plan on doing it right with many give-a-ways and prizes. Many of our vendors have given us things for prize support, we thank them, and if you get a chance, thank them too.

Tournament rooms will have their own prize support and most will handle them in their own way and times. They may or may not use tickets and door prizes.

This is a Membership driven convention and all members will be given a ticket that will be used in a drawing at 7:30pm Saturday and posted at 8:00pm. Prizes will be listed and your number posted next to it at time of drawing. Any prizes not picked up by the end of the show will be used in next years show.

Some General Attendees may win door prizes.

MidSouth Elections

We will be looking for new Directors this year, so here is how we will work it has we build up the Membership. You will note we stagger the new Directors so that every year we will have a few individuals who know what was going on from the year before.

On odd years we will need three Directors.
On even years we will need two Directors.
Each Director will serve a two year term.
You must be a member of MidSouth HMGS to vote for or be on the BoD.

Time Line
April 1st-20th, write-in for members you feel would make good Directors
April 26th, post results

Nashcon Membership Meeting

We will be having a Membership Meeting at 7:30pm till 8:00pm on Saturday. At this time will we post the election and do the drawing for prizes. This will be open to the Membership. At this time we will seat the new Board of Directors.

We will post the winning numbers for the prizes on a board at the front desk in Gaming Block 5 8-12am so any attendees that are not at the meeting will can claim their prize. Any prizes not claimed at the end of the show will be use for next years drawing.

Nashcon Flea Market Rules

This year we will try something new. Tables will be $5 per block and run like the gaming blocks. Space is very limited, so one table only. Maybe we can work out more if we are able to get more room from the hotel.
Tables will be made available to Members only. This is so we can police the flea market with out adding more staff. We feel that this will keep individuals who are a vendor out of the market, we have very good prices for the dealer’s hall, and that is where they should be. The flea Market is for attendees to unload old projects and not for companies. You can not use Credit Cards or take NashCash in the market.
The Flea Market will be free on Sunday and open to all attendees.

Time and blocks are like this.

Game Block 1 2-6pm Fri Flea Market Block A
Game Block 2 8-12am Fri
Game Block 3 9-1pm Sat Flea Market Block B
Game Block 4 2-6pm Sat Flea Market Block C
Game Block 5 8-12am Sat
Game Block 6 9-1pm Sun Flea Market Block D
Game Block 7 2-6pm Sun
