Local gaming group outside of Atlanta Georgia held a gameday in honor of Terry Haney, a well liked gamer who passed on. The game day was very well attended with
many excellent games being run, great attendance and from the looks of it some really excellent games put on. You can see photos of this event on the Terry Haney Game Day flickr page.
I think the spirit of a good gamer is one that brings friends and strangers together for a fun time playing games. The perfect memorial for a gamer is a games day. Public games are an opportunity to bring together new people and to form lasting friendships.
From the organizers:
We decided to put on a Historical Miniature Game Day to honor the passing of a dear friend Terry Haney. Terry was always one of the most gentlemanly gamers we know and one of the original Kennesaw Mountain Gaming Group.
He was also a big devotee of all things Toofatlardies. so it seemed appropriate that the day in his honor was also the first event that we unfurled the Lardy banner in Georgia and run several TFL games in one day.
Gamers came from all directions to play. Steve Smith from Murphy NC, Bob and Rob from Columbus, William from out near Gainesville, Joe Evans popped up from Griffin. 2 other gamers from North Georgia ran a nice looking SAGA game. I not only failed to get their names but no pictures also! All told we had 20 gamers stop in.
November 2 was also the designated day for a charity event for the Childrens Miracle Hospital Network. And our group contributed $150 towards that.
Great way to honor Terry.
